This book is fiction, and follows the (theoretical) practical life of the Divisional Railway Manager in Tindharia, up in the north-east corner of Assam. However, DRM Tinsukia was one of the posts that Sanjoy held for a period, so one might conclude that the decisions made (in the book) would be those that would actually be made by a real DRM!
