Between 1901 and 1905, W. G. Bagnall Limited, supplied no fewer than 36 2ft 6in gauge 2-4-2 saddle tank locomotives to the order of the India State Railways. With inside frames, they had 8in x 12in outside cylinders and 2ft 3in diameter driving wheels.
The locomotives where used in the Strategic Military Reserve, The Durbar Celebrations of 1902-1903 & 1911, amongst other military locations.
