Pictures by Peter Jordan showing the new track below the workshop, the road is blocked but 4x4 cars are using the track bed as a temporary road. Highway engineers are taking core samples
of the ‘bed rock’ to see how the remake the road.
Normal DHR services between New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri and Darjeeling are back to normal following the severe landslip at Pagla Jhora in June 2010 (between Gayabari & Mahanadi).

On 28 September 2011 there was a further major landslip at Tindharia where a 150m stretch of NH55 and the DHR track was destroyed. After cutting back into the hillside below workshop, the line has been rebuilt and is now operational. Reconstruction of the road will be a major and lengthy task, and it is too soon to anticipate how long this work will take.
